Han Kang is the first South Korean and first Asian woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. The award was given to her in 2024 for her "intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life" (by Ella Creamer Oct. 10, 2024 Guardian).
