This guide will help you

  • Learn how to install Zotero
  • Use it to import bibliographic records for books, articles, essays (book chapters), and dissertations and theses directly from databases
  • Insert properly formatted footnotes/bibliography and parenthetical references/reference lists in your Word documents.

Which Style Do I Use?

Different TIU programs use different citation styles. See a full list of styles by department, and ask your professor for your particular class.

TIU / Turabian / Chicago Style - Humanities Format (footnotes, bibliography)

  • Most TEDS and TGS students (with exceptions below)

TIU / Turabian / Chicago Style - Social Science Format (parenthetical - also known as author/date, reference list)

  • PhD students in ICS and EDS
  • DMin students

APA Style (American Psychological Association)

  • Counseling Psychology, MA/T and MEd/L

SBL (Society of Biblical Literature)

  • PhD THS students in OT and NT, and other biblical classes as required by the professor.
