Article Databases

The library has access to over 60 databases that index different subjects. The library has over 50,000 online journals and 380 in print.

See the article databases page for a full-list of databases.

Check out the research guide for your subject area to see recommended databases.

Finding Full-Text of Journals

To see if the library has a specific journal, search in Rolfing Search for the journal title.

The results will show if we have the journal online and/or in the library. Check the dates to make sure the year you want is available.

If the journal is not in Rolfing Library, you can request the article through WorldShare. See instructions for requesting a scanned article from another library.

Linking to Full-Text Journal Articles

Online articles from the databases can be used in your courses.

You may download a pdf and store it in Moodle for your students to access.

Or you can link to the full-text article within a database. Be sure to use the permalink that is found within the EBSCO databases. (The link in the address bar is temporary and will not work after a short period of time.) See an example of how to find the permalink.

Journal Subscription Suggestions

Because of the ongoing cost commitment for journal subscriptions, all journal requests are carefully reviewed. Factors that influence the approval of a journal subscription include:

  • the extent to which the journal supports the curriculum
  • whether it is indexed in sources available at Rolfing Library
  • whether there are similar titles in the collection
  • the cost of the journal
  • if it is already available full-text in our databases

New journal titles are evaluated in the Spring and ordered once a year in July. Subscriptions begin the following calendar year. To submit a journal subscription request please contact your library subject liaison.
