Sometimes, it can be challenging to figure out what words they are using for a particular topic. Here are some suggestions:
- Try synonyms; example: instead of "police" try "law enforcement."
- Don't phrase your query as a question or a statement. Use just two or three words.
- If your search strategy is very narrow, try broadening your search.
- Some databases have lists of subject headings or a built-in thesaurus. Try using these tools.
- When you find one resources that works for you, look at the subject links in the record. Those might lead you to other useful results.
